L240 Galaxy Pleco

The L240 Galaxy Pleco has a dark body covered in bright pale spots, creating the starry appearance behind its name. This larger Leporacanthicus-type pleco is an impressive bottom-dwelling fish for a spacious, established aquarium.

Aquarium setup

Plan for an adult around 25–30 cm and an aquarium at least about 150 cm long, with extra space for other large fish. Provide generous caves, rock crevices, and strong oxygenation. Maintain warm water around 26–29°C (79–84°F), effective filtration, and a regular water-change routine. Shaded resting areas are especially valuable while it settles.

Diet and feeding

Feed a protein-focused diet using quality sinking carnivore foods and suitable thawed aquatic foods such as chopped shrimp or mussel. Some vegetable foods may also be accepted. This pleco should receive its own meals and is not a substitute for algae maintenance.

Compatibility

Can be territorial, especially toward similar plecos. A single specimen with compatible, appropriately sized midwater fish is often easier to accommodate than a group. Small invertebrates are unsuitable companions. Use substantial visual barriers if keeping other bottom-dwellers.
